Eugénie, a  native of New Orleans, has published almost 60 collections of piano pieces.She is inspired by a mood, musical form or a rhythm.  For her CD's Spinning Gold and Tidings of Joy, she asked Julie Rivers to record her compositions. " Many people think that composers don't have to practice their  own music, but that isn't true. I prefer having an expert performer make the recording so I have more time to compose."

"I do all my composing at the piano.  I love the whole creative process, the feel of the  keys, the sounds, the variety of touch and tone that an acoustic keyboard can  give·It doesn't take much to get me going.  It can be a topic, a title, a mood, a musical form·I work quickly, letting the music almost write  itself."

A resident of  Connecticut since 1962, Eugénie Rocherolle was born and raised in new Orleans and graduated with a BA in Music from Newcomb College at Tulane University.  She spent her junior year in Paris where she studied with the famed composition teacher Nadia Boulanger. Coming home from France aboard a cruise ship, she met her future husband, Didier.

The Rocherolles  have four children, and special family events have often been held on family  property in France, where a small chapel was the site of their daughter's  wedding. That chapel was the inspiration for La Chapelle on the album  Spinning Gold.

Honors for Eugénie's compositions include first place awards from the National League of American Pen Women and performances at the Terrace Theater in Kennedy Center, Washington, DC.  She is also a member of ASCAP, from whom she has received a number of awards.  Eugénie Rocherolle is listed in Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in Entertainment and Who's Who in the World.
